Nice Work Glenn... Very descriptive in your explination of feelings and perception of ones surroundings... I like this piece a lot. Keep it up! (I just realized I sound like I'm grading your term paper... but I have no credentials to do so...)

Glenn:

I grieve for your loss. I too have a birth mother who I am now in close contact with. You have very eligantly capsulized the experience. All of us carry within ourselves a part of the parents who birthed us. Small gestures and reactions that are unconscience mirror that of our parents, but our attitudes, philosophies, and joy are defined by those who raised us. We need to celebrate both. Your life was enriched by all that provided to it. I am glad you took the moment to grieve; to acknowledge the small contribution she gave to your life. I am also glad that you recognize the larger contribution of your great grandparents, dad, and stepmom. God go with you.

Dear Glenn
I prefer to think your mother left because of the tremendous stress and the immaturity of her age, not from a lack of love for you. I like to think that she left you to my care because she thought it was best for you. Fortunately she didn't know how great that sacrifice was. A union that brought forth such a wonderful free spirit as you could not have bad beginning components. I weep for you. I am here wishing I had the wisdom to ease your pain

Love
Your father
